1980 Greece, set of 200. I'm not sure if I'm going to try to complete this next set, for several reasons. First,
there are a lot of them! But, these are also bootleg cards AND that some of the images are actually
from Star Trek and not Star Wars. In any event, they are from Greece, and were made in 1980 for The Empire Strikes
Back. I'm interested in trading for NM singles, but don't have any extras to swap at this time. Here's some more
information on these cards, per my friend Duncan Jenkins:
"The winner cards are the rarest. As the story goes, you could redeem runs of
cards (1-50 gets you a prize, 1-100 a better prize, 1-200 won a bike, etc). To
guarantee that they would not have to give out many prizes, numbers like 50,
100, 150, and 200 were made in very short supply. As to the large/small print variations. I am sure some
of each number are harder to find but I don't know of any uniformity. In other words, there are
some small rarer than the equivalent large card and some large rarer than the
equivalent small card."
Winner cards I have seen: 1-20, 1-50, 1-80, 1-100, 1-120, 1-150, 1-180, 1-200. Pictured are an empty pack, box,
three winner/redemption cards, several sample cards (front and backs, all large print variations). There is also a
sheet that I have seen that describes the set and lists all of the winner cards and what the prizes would have been.
