1977 Australia, set of 72 cards. Australia's Scanlens Confectionary did a "Star Wars Series One" set that is one of my
favorites. They are big Star Wars fans down under, and did card sets for all three movies. They weren't as elaborate as
the U.S. and Canadian sets, or even the U.K. sets, but at least they did something unique with each set. For the Star Wars
set, they only did one series. It's a 72 card set with the first 66 being very near to the U.S. series one set (other than
the card stock), but with cards #67-72 being added with blue borders and pictures that resembled several of the U.S. Topps
stickers. I have found these (cards #67-72) to be very hard to find well centered, and in good condition. Centering is a big
issue. Also, the majority of the Chewy cards have a rub across his name that partially wipes it out - and given the number
that have this it must be a factory defect. A complete set of these in EX should run around $100, and a NM (pack fresh) single
card #67-72 would easily fetch $20. Since the base 66 are so near the U.S. set, and almost indistinguishable from the U.K.
Series One set, singles aren't traded very heavily - complete sets are more popular. I talked to vintage Star Wars collector
Trevor Gaylor, who has opened Scanlens packs, and he mentioned that the "sticker" cards were randomly inserted in the packs
in the same way that the other cards were - they were not one to each pack like the U.S. stickers. Scans are of the high
numbers #67-72 that make this set unique, and a wrapper.
